On Saturday 25th April, we had a great turn out for our Roaring Skies Prerelease. The main room at IQ was filled out with fans of all ages wanting to grab the rarest in demand cards from the latest Pokemon set.
This weeks review I wanted to look at a game that combines all sorts of different aspects, from drafting to hand management to resource management. 7 Wonders is a game for 2-7 players created by Antoine Bauza and produced by Repos Productions.
What's It All About?
A game that has seen a considerable amount of play in the shop since its release is the new miniatures game from Fantasy Flight Games: Star Wars Armada.
This month has brought up a couple of nice surprises. Firstly we finally received delivery of the Alien Deckbuilding Game, something i've been looking forward to since the first day I saw it. The idea of being able to play through the franchise is just so exciting to me I cant wait to crack it open and give it a go.
So you have finally got a deck you are happy with and are ready to take the first few steps into the world of tournament play? But where do you start and what should you bring?
As part of our question and answer series of blogs we wanted to discuss things we suggest you bring to a tournament. What to bring is a question we get asked a lot by both new and older players to tournament play so here is our top eight things to bring!
This week I wanted to talk about a game that is a favourite of Imagination Gaming and one that is rapidly becoming a firm favourite with the IQ Games crew – Qwirkle.
This colourful game is quick to play and very easy to learn. Consisting of one hundred and eight small squares with six different colours and six different shapes this game is very colourful and feels very solid.
March sees the release of the new Magic the Gathering set Dragon's of Tarkir! I really enjoy 'new set' time with spoilers trickling out and creating a great buzz around the game. It's great to hear players all talking about the new cards and coming up with decks ideas. We will be holding a number of events to celebrate the release with 3 pre-release events and 3 full days of release drafts! I really enjoy running pre-release and release events, seeing all the players excited to get hold of new cards and putting them together in a sealed, draft or standard deck is great.
Who doesn't love castles? King Ludwig II of Bavaria having built Neuschwanstein – the castle behind the inspiration of the Disney theme park castles -among others, adores them and now he has commissioned your deft hands to build the biggest, most impressive castle ever to be built – subject to his ever-changing whims.
Castles of Mad King Ludwig is a 1-4 player game with variations for the number of players.
So for the first game review of this blog I wanted to dive straight in with an old store favourite.
Granada 1278. At the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, one of the most exciting and interesting projects of the Spanish Middle Ages beings: the construction of Alhambra.
